What is the maximum weight capacity of the 990 Horizontal Stand?

The Target Stand Horizontal 2x4 - 990 is constructed from heavy-gauge industrial steel tubing to provide a rock-solid foundation for massive weight loads. It can safely support hundreds of pounds of hanging steel targets across its horizontal beam, making it fully capable of holding multiple heavy 3/8" or 1/2" AR500 steel plates, dueling trees, or reactive knockdown plate systems simultaneously without bowing or sagging.

How does this horizontal sawhorse stand prevent tipping on uneven terrain?

Our engineering design utilizes a wide-angle, flared sawhorse leg geometry that creates a highly stable, low-center-of-gravity footprint. This structural base is wide enough to resist severe heavy wind gusts on open outdoor ranges, as well as the intense kinetic energy and backward momentum generated when heavy-caliber rifle bullets strike your hanging targets.  This stand is absolutely .50BMG rated.  

What specific materials do I need to buy locally to finish this stand setup?

To complete your 990 Horizontal Stand layout, you will need to purchase standard 2x4 lumber studs for your main horizontal crossbar crossbeam, along with four pieces of 2x4 to serve as the leg stands. These frame elements are incredibly inexpensive and can be found at any local home improvement storefront, allowing you to easily replace a shot-up leg or wood beam in seconds while keeping your initial shipping costs extremely low.  We like to recommend three 8’ 2x4s as a great configuration.   Use one of the 8’ as your cross beam.  Cut the other two 8’ 2x4s in half for your four legs.   No waste, great setup, strong and versatile. 

Are tools required for quick field assembly at the range?

No, our horizontal stand features a completely tool-free, zero-hardware field setup. The steel brackets are equipped with premium stainless steel hand set screws. You simply slide your local 2x4 lumber beam into the top housing slot, insert your four legs into the heavy leg tubes, and tighten the set screws by hand to lock the entire modular shooting platform securely in place.

Can I run multiple target configurations on this single horizontal frame?

Yes, the 990 frame acts as a blank canvas for building an advanced custom range layout. You can use our static or chain target hangers to string up a row of AR500 steel gongs, or slide on our modular reactive knockdown plate brackets to construct a fully functional, affordable DIY plate rack across the horizontal wood stud.
