Product FAQ's

Q: What is the AR500 Horizontal 2x4 Chain Hanging Bracket used for?

A: This bracket is designed to hang AR500 steel shooting targets and gongs from a horizontal 2x4 using chains. Simply slide the brackets onto the 2x4, attach your chains, and hang your target.

Q: Do I need tools or hardware to install the brackets?

A: No. The brackets require no tools, bolts, or additional mounting hardware. Simply slide them onto the horizontal 2x4 and lock your target chains into place.

Q: What are the brackets made from?

A: Each bracket is precision laser cut from one solid piece of 3/8" AR500 steel. The one-piece construction eliminates welds and bolts that could loosen or break during repeated range use.

Q: How do the brackets keep from sliding on the 2x4?

A: Laser-cut no-slip teeth bite into the wood to help prevent movement along the horizontal 2x4. As the target moves when struck, the bracket works itself into the wood for an increasingly secure grip.

Q: What chain should I use with these target brackets?

A: For maximum durability, we recommend pairing these brackets with the Bash Target Supply 3/8" Grade 80 Chain Hanging Kit. Grade 80 alloy steel chain is stronger and more durable than the lower-grade chains commonly used for hanging steel targets.

Bash Target Supply offers the most durable AR500 shooting target hanging kits on the market. Our kits come complete with Grade 8 bolt kits. Grade 8 bolts are the hardest commercial bolts available. Other kits use Grade 5 or lower, those just won't last causing a frustrating day at the range. Whether you choose our Grade 80 chain kit or our 3/8" thick multi-ply rubber straps you will not be disappointed, both offer fantastic hanging solutions. Straps can take more direct shots than chains, but, our Grade 80 chains can take a beating. Chains give you a louder report and allow the target to swing more freely. Chains vs Straps really comes down to personal preference. Other kits use Grade 43 or lower chain, those are just not suited for shooting target applications and will break if hit even once. No one wants to fuss with broken bolts, chains or straps at the range. For flawless range days, choose Bash Target Supply hanging kits.
