Q: What size 2x4 lumber do I need for this target stand?

A: The stand is engineered to accept any standard, off-the-shelf 2x4 lumber boards easily found at any local hardware store. You can cut the upright to your preferred height depending on your shooting position. We recommend your 2x4 to be 6' or less. Adjust the vertical spacing between paddles to your preference.

Q: What is the best thickness dueling tree paddle if I can only afford one thickness?

A: The best overall paddle is our 3/8" thick paddle. A 9mm turns this paddle perfectly. This paddle can handle even an AR-15 5.56 round with no slap back. The paddle and bracket even handles the big energy of a .308, but, you will have paddle slap back. We recommend the 1/2" paddle in that case.

Q: Can the brackets handle high-powered rifle rounds?

A: Yes, the AR500 paddles and structural brackets are built to endure intense range use. They have been tested to handle up to and including .308 WIN/7.62 NATO. However, always ensure your target paddles are rated for your specific caliber and placed at safe shooting distances.

Q: Is assembly and teardown difficult at the range?

A: Not at all. The design features a modular setup that allows you to assemble or break down the entire stand in just a couple of minutes without needing any tools. The brackets slide onto your 2x4 and are set in place using the two stainless steel thumb screws. For a more permanent set up, there are two 3/8" through bolt holes should you want to mount them more securely.

Q: Are AR500 steel target paddles included with this dueling tree?

A: Yes. We offer both options 1) Brackets with paddles and 2) Paddles only. You can purchase paddles only for the ability to change calibers at will. Brackets are sold with the paddles in the 982 and 983 kits.

Q: Can I leave the dueling outdoors year-round?

A: Yes. All Bash Target Supply products are either zinc plated or hot dip galvanized and finished with our premium powder coating. This provides excellent corrosion protection. The target plates are not plated as shooting them defeats the plating right away. it is recommended to paint all bare surfaces after shooting for maximum corrosion protection.
